About Reeder Surveys

Reeder Surveys is a small, family‑run partnership based in Somerset, shaped by more than three decades of hands‑on surveying experience. What began as a one‑person business has grown into a balanced partnership where each of us brings our own strengths to the work we do.

Our focus is simple: to provide clear, dependable surveys and make the process as straightforward as possible for every client - whether you’re planning changes to your home or preparing detailed architectural designs.

Our Story

Reeder Surveys has grown steadily and naturally over the years, shaped by experience, partnership, and a shared commitment to working with care and respect for every project we take on.

After many years working with established surveying firms, Phil founded Philip Reeder Surveys in 2009. His steady, methodical approach helped the business build long‑standing relationships across the South West.

In 2021, Danni joined the business, taking on the office and client‑facing side of the work. This allowed Phil to focus fully on surveying while ensuring clients received clear communication and a smooth, well‑organised experience from first enquiry to final drawings.

As the business evolved, transitioning from a limited company to a partnership felt like a natural step - a reflection of the way we now work together. Today, Reeder Surveys represents the combined experience and shared values that underpin everything we do.

Our Approach

We believe the surveying stage should feel clear, calm, and well‑supported, giving every client the confidence to move forward.

Our work is shaped by a deep appreciation for the land and the stories held within the buildings, landscapes, and communities of the South West. As a family who spends much of our time outdoors - walking, noticing wildlife, and taking in the quiet details of the places around us - we bring that same attentiveness to every survey. We value the way architecture reflects history and how each property carries its own character, and we approach every project with respect for both the setting and the people connected to it.

Our work is guided by four principles:

  • Clarity — providing information that’s easy to understand and ready for the next stage.

  • Care — working respectfully in people’s homes, gardens, and land.

  • Accuracy — producing drawings that are detailed and dependable.

  • Communication — keeping clients informed throughout the process.

Our role is to provide the survey information you need at the start of your project. Once your drawings are complete, your architect, designer, or planner will guide the next steps - and we’re always here if you’d like help understanding any part of the survey.

Meet the Team

Here’s a little more about who we are and the roles we each play within the partnership.

Phil | Surveyor

Phil grew up in Suffolk, where sport shaped much of his early life. When an injury brought his footballing plans to an unexpected stop, he found himself exploring different kinds of work — first at a local golf course, where he enjoyed meeting people and being outdoors, and later in surveying, which he discovered almost by chance. It didn’t take long for him to realise he’d found something that suited him: practical, steady, and rooted in real places.

He went on to train extensively and worked with both small and large surveying firms before moving to Somerset and taking the leap to start his own business. Those years of experience now sit quietly behind everything he does at Reeder Surveys.

Outside of work, Phil enjoys keeping active in simple, grounding ways. Completing an Ironman triathlon in 2012 is still a proud memory, but these days he prefers regular runs and cold‑water swims — often out in the Somerset landscape he’s grown to love. It’s the same appreciation for place and rhythm that he brings to his work.

Danni | Office Manager

Danni has lived in Somerset all her life and has always been drawn to roles that involve supporting others. She began her career in the care sector, eventually moving into a supervisory position where she trained and guided staff — work that shaped her calm, organised approach and her natural ease with people.

Over time, her interests broadened into holistic wellbeing and women’s portrait photography, both of which deepened her appreciation for connection, stories, and the quieter details that make each person unique. Alongside her role at Reeder Surveys, she also home educates her and Phil’s daughter, weaving work and family life together in a way that feels steady and intentional.

Danni loves being outdoors, especially on long walks through the Somerset countryside. She often takes her camera with her, capturing small moments of beauty — a habit that mirrors the attentiveness she brings to her work and to the clients she supports.
