2025 in Review: A Year of Growth, Gratitude and Big Transitions

A misty woodland landscape with autumnal trees fading into soft fog, creating a quiet, atmospheric scene.

A year shaped by detailed surveys, big projects, and life changes

As we reach the end of 2025, we’ve found ourselves looking back over the past twelve months with a real sense of appreciation. It’s been a full, lively, and at times slightly chaotic year - in the best possible way - bringing opportunities, challenges, and plenty of moments that reminded us why we love the work we do across Somerset and the South West.

One of the standout chapters began in late March, when we started a particularly intricate measured building survey across a cluster of interconnected buildings. Each part of the site had its own story to tell, shaped by different centuries and filled with characterful architectural details, including the beautiful Wren Door. Walking through the spaces felt a little like stepping through time; the way the original 18th‑century structure sits alongside later additions creates a layered history that was a privilege to document.

Because of the scale and level of detail involved, Phil spent a month on site, carefully working through every nook and cranny to make sure nothing was missed. Once the site work wrapped up, the next phase began - weeks of processing and piecing everything together. Most of that work happened during evenings and weekends, squeezed in around family life, because by that point Phil was already away tackling the next major project.

It was a stretch of time that felt a bit like spinning plates: long days, lots of travel, and a home life that was equally busy as we packed up our house and prepared to move into temporary accommodation while waiting to complete on our new home. Looking back now, it’s clear that the year wasn’t just about the workload - it was about growth, resilience, and the small wins that kept us going.

We’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with clients who value what we do, and we’re genuinely grateful for every project, conversation, and collaboration that’s come our way.

As we begin to wind down for the next couple of weeks, we hope you enjoy a calm, cosy, and restorative festive season. Thank you for being part of our year. We’re excited to step into the new one and see what it brings.

Below are a couple of final drawings from that project - a small glimpse into the detail and care that went into documenting such a characterful set of buildings, and a fitting way to round off this look back at the year.
